Toccata ritmica was composed in 1988 for a concert I gave with my son Olivier, himself a Jazz-Rock musician. It was a stimulating confrontation of our different styles. This is why this piece sounds a little "jazzy". It should therefore be performed with a light "swing", with a kind of feline character. The performance shouldn't be tense but rather elastic. The registration must be colourful but always clear. When played on two manuals, the left hand should be slightly louder than the right. From letter D onward, a progressive crescendo has to be organized step by step. Tierces, then reeds, should be used before the mixtures, these should be drawn by letter K.
